Dr. Lawrence L. Gipson

Dr. Lawrence L. Gipson, FACS is a Board Certified Eye Surgeon concentrating in comprehensive ophthalmology. Procedures performed by Dr. Gipson include, but are not limited to, Lasik, diabetic laser, eyelid surgery, glaucoma filtration surgery and the SLT laser for glaucoma. Dr. Gipson also performs routine eye examinations and provides contact lens and eye glass prescriptions for the entire family.

 

Dr. Gipson graduated from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan with an undergraduate degree in Botany. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, which was followed by an internship at Montefiore Hospital University of Pittsburgh and an ophthalmology residency at Eye and Ear Hospital University of Pittsburgh.

 

Dr. Gipson has hospital staff privileges at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School and Monongahela Valley Hospital.

Dr. Mohammad Pathan

Dr. Pathan grew up in upstate South Carolina and went to college at Clemson University where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Bio-medical engineering. He enjoyed his training as an engineer but ultimately decided to pursue medicine as a career. He attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC one of the nation’s oldest active medical universities.

 

Upon completing medical school Dr. Pathan completed a robust internship in Columbus, GA at the Columbus Regional medical center which is one of the busiest trauma centers in west Georgia. During this year Dr. Pathan experienced the full breath of modern medical care. He saw patients in the primary care clinics, was a member of the surgical trauma service responsible for managing trauma patients through the emergency room and trauma bay, took care of pediatric patients, and even delivered babies!

 

He then started his surgical residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Pathan’s residency experience included training in all subspecialties of ophthalmology. As a resident he has managed countless eye trauma and eye emergencies. His training included cataract surgery, management of glaucoma, management of retinal diseases, management of ocular surface diseases such as dry eye as well disorders of the eyelids and the eye socket.
